We are visiting Shanghai in the first week of December. We are checking in at Park Hotel. How to get to the hotel from the airport? There are 6 of us, including 3 children, and we have quite a few pieces of luggage. - Pong Chew Seng
A: Park Hotel is at the heart of downtown Shanghai (

You can get there by airport bus ( see
http://www.wangjianshuo.com/personal/places/pudongairport/#Public%20Tran
sportation%20-%20Airport%20Bus). Line #2 will work since it has a stop at
Shanghai Exibition Center, which is about 1.5 km away from the hotel. BUT, I
don't suggest you to take the bus since it is not convience for you and it is
not cheap. Why? You have 6 persons and it will cost you 114 RMB. It is not cheap
if you hire a taxi. And you have to continue to walk or take taxi after you get
off the bus.
I suggest you directly take taxi. It is about 120 RMB from Pudong Airport to the
Park Hotel. (It is only my estimation. Real price may vary depending on the
traffic conditions)
One thing you really need to pay attention is, the typical Shanghai taxi can
take up to 4 passengers and are not suitable for you. There are taxis with 7, 11
or 13 seats. They are off the same price as 4-person taxi. You can see my page
about 10 persons taxi at
http://www.wangjianshuo.com/personal/shanghai/taxiservice.htm. I also listed
some telephone number for your reference. You can hire a 10 person taxi to hold
your family and your luggage.
